
DESMI SL
The DESMI SL pumps are mounted with spacer coupling to ensure easy access for service and maintenance.
The arrangement is a combination of a spacer and a flexible coupling enabling removal of the complete rotating element consisting of bearing housing with shaft, bearings, shaft seal, and impeller without disturbing motor wiring and pipe connections.
The widest possible degree of standardization of components has been a major aim and resulted in the use of same bearing size and shaft seal in 12 pump sizes with Iight bearing bracket.
All SL pumps are supplied with mano and vacuum gauges as standard.
The DESMI range of vertical in-line centrifugal pumps, type SL, has been designed for marine applications and they meet the demand for reliability, besides being economical and easy to maintain.
The DESMI SL pumps are available in 20 different sizes up to 10" and are in accordance with the classification societies' requirements for marine pumps. Certificates are supplied on request.
All pumps within the SL range can be supplied as self-priming units with a built-on priming pump of the water ring type, complete with suction strainer and feed water tank. The pump is driven by its own electric motor which can be manually or automatically controlled by means of a pressure switch.
DESMI also manufactures a more simple and cheaper solution, an air ejector operated by compressed air, and controlled by a solenoid valve and pressure switch.

Design features
The SL pump is a radically split casing, single stage and single entry centrifugal pump with motor stool and pipe flanges made in accordance with international standards.
As the branches are in-line and the casing is provided with supporting feet, floor installation is facilitated, but a special bracket for bulkhead mounting is also available within our standard range.
The impeller is made with double curved blades to ensure low NPSH-values and high efficiency.
Mechanical shaft seal is standard. The rotating assembly is fitted with in sturdy ball bearings dimensioned to withstand severe axial and radial thrust loads, and in connection with the spacer coupling this excludes the need for any special bearing in the electric motor.
In the small pump types completely enclosed prelubricated bearings are used. In the larger types the bottom bearings are double angular contact ball bearings.
